We believe their ability as a distilling partner to understand what we wanted to achieve and help us deliver it has been a key reason why they were recognized as Malt Advocate’s ‘2015 World Distiller of the Year’. With over 150 years of distilling expertise, a plentiful supply of the best quality grains and a perfect spot for our barrels in their warehouses they became part of the Whiskey Thief story. Well that’s when our friends at the award-winning MGP Distillery in Lawrenceberg, Indiana really came into their own. We needed their patience to work with us through the experiments and create a process to replicate the results for a consistently high quality Bourbon. Made with sterling silver welds, our thieves are fully functional and make a stunning display piece. When we selected our distillery production partner it was critical that they had all three attributes and more. Our handcrafted copper whiskey thieves are replicas of 1800's thieves used to pull whiskey for tasting samples or quality control. The primary reasons for this are climate, water and expertise. In the next version of my project, I would like to give users the ability to add reviews and ratings to their whiskeys.Over 90% of the world’s American Whiskey comes from 10 distilleries, all of which are located in the southern central states of Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana. As the name implies, this tool 'steals'' a sample of a whiskey batch straight from the barrel and then releases it into a cup. I have not connected this capability to my client application yet and would like to do so in the next version of my project. I have written a route to allow a user to select to view just one whiskey, as long as the user is able to provide the whiskey id.

It took trial and error, looking at documentation/searing online, and referring back to previous class notes to better understand how to write each route function so it could successfully handle a request from the client. After testing these curl scripts in my terminal, I moved on to creating routes for each request: create, update, index and delete.ĬRUDing my resource was a more challenging part of working on the back end. I then wrote and tested curl scripts for CRUDing my resource. From there, I moved on to building my whiskey schema and including all relevant key-value pairs (name, type, country and price). The ERD linked below shows a subdocument of comments added to the whiskey schema, but I did not end up including a comments subdocument.įirst I tested all user authentication requests with curl scripts. Each user can have many resources (whiskeys), so my ERD depicted a one-to-many relationship. I began the planning process for my API by creating an ERD to represent users and their resources.

As Bonders, we are curators of casks, building a library of Irish Whiskey flavours. Creating a blended grain expression is emphatic for us as Bonders as our craft centres on our acquiring whiskey from multiple sources. Whiskey Thief is a single page application designed to allow users to store, view, and update information about their favorite whiskeys.
